چکیده
Abstract Background Actuarial survival based on the Kaplan–Meier method can overestimate actual long-term survival, especially among those with factors of poor prognosis. Patients American Joint Committee Cancer stage III soft tissue sarcoma (STS) represent a subset high risk STS-specific mortality. Therefore, we aimed to characterize clinicopathological characteristics associated in patients STS. Methods We retrospectively reviewed 116 who underwent surgical resection for STS curative intent between March 2000 and December 2013. Long-term survivors ( n = 61), defined as survived beyond 5 years, were compared short-term 36), died within years. Results Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that tumor size < 10 cm [odds ratio (OR) 3.95, p 0.047], histological grade 2 (OR 8.12, 0.004), Society Anesthesiologists (ASA) score 1 11.25, 0.001) independently 5-year survival. However, 66% exhibited prognosis: 36% had > 48% 3. Leiomyosarcoma (3 10) was negatively Conclusions Actual after size, grade, ASA score. majority exhibit prognosis, suggesting aggressive treatment should be offered chance these patients.

Long-term results after resection for soft tissue sarcoma pulmonary metastases.
Isolated pulmonary metastases from soft tissue sarcomas (STS) occur in approximately 20% of the cases. Chemotherapy and surgical resection are the current standard treatment options for these patients. Our goal was to identify any prognostic factors for these patients as well as to estimate their long-term survival rate. We examined a series of twenty-two consecutive patients with pulmonary met...
متن کاملPredictors of Long-Term Survival after Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Abstract Introduction: Survival after cardiac arrest is one of the most important issues related to the safety and quality of patient care, and unexpected events such as failure to follow guidelines can endanger the patient's safety. Objective: This study aimed to determine the long-term survival after cardiopulmonary resuscitation and its predictors in patients with cardiac arrest. Materi...
متن کاملSurvival after local recurrence of soft tissue sarcoma.
We analysed metastasis-free survival after local recurrence in a population-based series of 432 patients treated for soft-tissue sarcoma of the extremities or trunk wall. Local recurrence was found in 124 patients; of these, 73 had no detectable metastases when the last local recurrence was diagnosed. No patient received chemotherapy for local recurrence. The 73 patients had a 5-year metastasis...

متن کاملLong-term survival after resection of hepatocellular carcinoma
BACKGROUNDS/AIMS Although recent advances in surgical techniques and alternative treatment, the long-term survival >5 years after liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is still unsatisfactory due to the high recurrence rate compared with other solid organ cancers. This study was conducted to analyze long-term survival after HCC resection and to develop an optimal strategy to achiev...
